Group Show: Humour From my Pen with Art to Aid the Cuban Five
12 - 24 May 2012
Claro Que Cuba Duele
This travelling exhibition of political cartoons is in support of the Cuban Five a group which infiltrated right-wing terrorist groups in Miami to gather intelligence on imminent attacks on their homeland. They have each been in jail in the U.S since 1998 on trumped-up ‘conspiracy’ charges. To support these individuals this exhibition has been brought to New Zealand and artists have been invited to contribute work to raise funds to tour the show. Artists involved include: Gerardo Hernandez and 20+ New Zealand artists such as John Walsh and Malcolm Evans, Rafael de Armas, Sam Broad, Jamie Chapman, Gabrielle Belz, Anna Crichton, Matt Dowman, Joe Fish, Fiona Grey, Bernie Harfleet, Hau Hu, Dion Hitchens, Jeremy Leatinu’u, Gerda Leenards, Sean McDonnell, Arturo Meade, Xavier Meade, Kenneth Merrick, Matt Molloy, John Oxborough, James Pinker, Tanya Ruka, Donna Sarten, Claudio Sotolongo, Katie Theunissen, Rosemary Theunissen, John Walsh, Alissa West and Sarah Yates.
