Contemplation#2 is a travelling solo exhibition which relaunches the art career of multi disciplined artist Marie E. Potter. Contemplation#2 opens at Satellite Gallery on the 8th September and runs to the 29th September 2012. Then in 2013, the show will travel to Wellington to show at Gallery 3 at New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts during March and April.
Marie achieved a Master of Fine Arts degree from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design in 2010, where she also achieved a Diploma of Textile Arts (with Distinction) in 1985. Marie’s new direction sees her incorporate objects and artefacts brought to New Zealand by early European settlers, in the 1800’s. This powerful multi-facetted exhibition incorporates installation, unique electrographic/digital images, photography as well as a post object/audio component. Marie’s work acts as a prompt to memory and a tangible significant reminder of our past.
Over the years Marie has won numerous awards for her innovative work. She has work held in many public collections and recently acquisitioned to the James Wallace Arts Trust.
