‘Half Time Oranges’ is an exhibition alluding back to the recreational 60’s, capturing through graphic depiction and animated realism the essence of iconic New Zealand design.

Melinda’s caravan and hot pool series are celebratory in nature; their respectfully contemporary composition and vibrancy are intended to capture the spirit of a time.

As the sun languidly sets over childhood nostalgia at Parakai pools, it illuminates the aesthetic vibrancy resonating out of Point Erin. In its technicolour boldness and angular construction, the caravan series elevates above kitschy reminiscence and reflects the golden age of leisure. The atmospheric result is one of summer bliss captured by aesthetic craftsmanship.

Each of these paintings is intended to recognise the iconography, stylistic imperative and visual inventiveness of the era. If art is in the eye of the beholder, joy should reside in the heart, the soul and the mind.

This show is a tribute to an era; where design reflected lifestyle, and leisure basked in space and time. Invoking vivid memories and emotions, Half Time Oranges presents to you an invitation to smile.
